Who’s Sheikh Yaser Birjas?

With Banu Madinatayn’s first AlMaghrib seminar, Love Notes, just a few weeks away (insha’Allah), we want to introduce you to your first AlMaghrib Institute instructor, Sheikh Yaser Birjas. Yaser Birjas is originally from the holy land of Palestine and was born in Kuwait. He graduated as class valedictorian with the highest honors from University of Madinah’s College of Shariah (Fiqh and Usul) in 1996. He had the honor to interact and learn from a number of highly respected scholars such as Shaikh Ash-Shanqitee and Shaikh Al-Uthaimeen (rahimahu Allah).

After graduating from the University of Madinah, Yaser Birjas went on to work as a youth counselor and relief program aide in war-torn Bosnia. Thereafter, he immigrated to the U.S. where he served as an Imam at The Islamic Center in El Paso, Texas and as the director of Islamic Education and Outreach at the Orland Park Prayer Center in Orland Park Illinois. He presently serves as the VP for EmanRush Press, which is the publishing wing of AlMaghrib Institute. Yaser Birjas is no stranger to the Islamic discourse on Love, Marriage and Family Life. He is a founding member and supervisor of Practimate.com, a program aimed at providing pre-marital training and matching for Muslim singles living in the West, and works as a counselor, counseling people on a wide range of issues, especially marriage and marital life.

Yaser Birjas’ most recent courses of instruction with AlMaghrib Institute are Love Notes: Marriage and Family Life, Divine Link: Fiqh of Salah, Heavenly Hues: Thematic Tasfir, Prophet’s Smile: Characteristics of Muhammad (pbuh).

The Students Talk – Testimonials:

“Sheikh Yaser Birjas has a special aura that he emits to his students. Every time his class ends I feel like crying because he imparts not only knowledge but sincere care for us students. His stories are amazing and his sense of humor is just amazing. I guess this would be more of a testimonial of Sheikh Yaser’s teaching ability which directly affects the class of course. When we ask questions, he always remembers each person’s questions, to the point that he will come back to you for your second question that you might even have forgotten about. The chocolateers is also exclusive only to his class. In Fiqh of Love, he personally sometimes delivers them too, mashaallah!”

“There are those who teach a class and hope that the students are taking in what knowledge they are giving. Then there are those who teach the class and KNOW that what ever they are saying is sinking in each and every SINGLE one of the students present, and yes alhumdulilah Shaykh Yaser Birjas is one of them.”
