In our world of economic instability, we find ourselves struggling to save our money or invest it in order to prepare for our future. We turn to banks and wise business opportunities so that we may build investments for ourselves, but do we ever stop to think about our investment with Allah (SWT)? What about our future in the afterlife? Like money in this life, our good deeds will surely benefit us in the hereafter. Abu Hurairah (RA) has reported the messenger of Allah as saying, Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except three: ongoing charity, or beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.” [Reported By Muslim] Sadaqah Jariyah or ongoing charity is an excellent investment of good deeds that will keep flowing like a stream or river after we die.
As you already know, AlMaghrib’s Divine Link class is coming to the Twin Cities in less than 5 weeks. Thus, it is very important that we receive donations for scholarships for those students whose financial situation prevent them from doing so. QMadinatayn is therefore inviting donations for all sorts of scholarships. For those who would like to create a stream of good deeds for themselves as an ongoing investment with Allah, here is your chance. Imagine that we could invest in Allah’s bank of good deeds with ongoing charities and have that as a back up for us in the afterlife. Because lets face it, nobody knows what state they will be in when they are taken from this world.
If you are taking this class and have a little extra money to donate to our scholarship fund, may Allah reward you in return. Also, if you are unable to take this class because of certain circumstances such as work, school, traveling, etc. and feel bad that you will miss it, this would be an excellent opportunity for you to get the reward of sponsoring somebody to take this class. Imagine if your sponsorship went to somebody that was a non-Muslim and took their shahada during this class? How lucky would you be that your sponsorship could build you a river of an ongoing good deed because a person took the shahada by the means of your sponsorship? Can you envision how big this investment would be with Allah (SWT)- that each prayer or good deed that was made by someone you sponsored would go into your account on Judgement Day? Let us be wise in investing for our future- not only for this life, but more importantly, for the afterlife. In our time of economic instability we should realize that while the investment in money may be smart in this life, but in the end, investment in good deeds is the wiser choice for success in this life and the hereafter.
